Softneck Garlic (Allium sativum 'Inchelium Red')
When to Plant: Plant as soon as possible in early spring once the soil is workable. This usually is 2-4 weeks your last frost date.
Where to Plant: Garlic prefers to grow in cooler temperatures. Choose a sunny spot with rich well drained en soil. For areas with heavy soils, amend with sand and organic matter for best results prior to ing. Garlic prefers a soil pH of 6.2-6.8 in a slightly dry area of the garden.
How to Plant: Separate cloves from garlic bulb and plant pointed end up in a 4" deep hole. Space the es 6" apart in row, with 12" between rows.
Time to Harvest: When the leaves turn brown it is time to harvest. Carefully lift mature garlic bulbs out of ground and allow to dry in the sun for several days. This gives the outer skin a chance to cure.
After Care: Store garlic bulbs by roping or hanging in netted bags in a cool, frost free dry spot for use throughout the winter.

• Pinch off any flowers that might develop as although they look nice they consume energy that should be going into the finished bulb size.
